Ambassador Clay Constantinou
Clay Constantinou is the former United States Ambassador to Luxembourg. He also served as Dean of the School of Diplomacy and International Relations at Seton Hall University and was Managing Director at the Clinton Group, an asset management firm.
Prior to his appointment as Ambassador, he was a partner in one of New Jersey's premier law firms, concentrating his practice in business transactions, corporate and commercial matters and litigation.
Ambassador Constantinou earned a Bachelor of Arts from New Jersey City University, a Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall School of Law, and an LL.M from New York University Graduate School of Law. In addition, he earned a Certificate in the Senior Managers in Government Program at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He is admitted to the New Jersey Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court.
He has been very active in national politics having served as Vice Chairman of the Presidential campaigns of Governor Dukakis, Governor Bill Clinton and Senator John Kerry.
Ambassador Constantinou served on many Boards including Commissioner of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, one of the largest highway systems in the United States. He currently serves on the Boards of Seton Hall School of Law and the Cyprus American Archaeological Research Institute.
Ambassador Constantinou is the recipient of a number of awards, including a Doctor of Letters honoris causa, from New Jersey City University, the Republic of Cyprus’ Gold Medal for Exceptional Services, the Church of Cyprus’s Saint Barnabas Gold Medal, and the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. He was named Outstanding Alumnus of the Year by both New Jersey City University and Seton Hall School of Law.
In addition to English, he is fluent in Greek and is proficient in French.
